First of all, let me say that the message on this card somehow is just perfect for the first day of a new year! Both the saying and the frame image are from the stamp set known as In the Moment.
This first card utilizes layers that include (from the bottom up), the large focal print paper from the packet, a small dark B&T duo, and a bit of lagoon cardstock that has been stamped with a design from the stamp set! It was easy to put together a large, medium and small design that coordinate perfectly to add plenty of interest and texture to the card. All of the layers were built up on a card base of colonial white. The framed message becomes the focal point of the card and it is accessorized with an Irresistibles Hexagon sponged with lagoon ink along with a few stamped diamond shapes in lagoon and gypsy inks and some Aqua Dots!
Are you ready to kick it up a notch? Then let's take a look at the same card created with a
few small twists! Check it out to the right! That's right folks! It's the same card with the same layers, but built onto a lagoon cardstock base, it looks so different! It has the same focal point message and the same fun accessories yet has a bit more sophisticated feel to the finished project.
It is tricks like this that enable you to tweak a card or layout just a bit and have as your result, a new look! Let's continue though... What if you have to have it all? There are still a few ideas in my bag of tricks that will prepare you to succeed with that resolution to move your artwork up a notch or two!
Sarita is still the star of the show as is the same stamp set yet we're ready to climb another rung of the artwork ladder. We started with another lagoon cardstock base, this time cut with the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge! It is such fun to have a collection of shaped cards from which I can choose! (I used the card setting from page 37 if you are eager to try it yourself!)
Next, I cut that same dark small print B&T paper a tad smaller to layer on top of the lagoon cardstock. (This was cut as a card base, so I had 2 B&T layers for cards!) Our large focal print paper appears as a strip down the center of the top-fold card and I added another framed message off to the side.
Now it's time to accessorize! (We all love accessories, right?) I used the same Irresitibles Hexagons, but this time added one each sponged with lagoon and outdoor denim inks. In between the hexagons and raised up with a bit of 3-D foam tape, is a little wooden heart that is from the Sarita assortment. (I'm all about coordinating accesories!) Lastly, I added some of those same fun Aqua Dots and this time added a few little sparkles to the mix!
That's it! You now have all the tools that YOU need to kick up YOUR artwork. Enjoy every moment! Now hop on over to Mary's blog to see what she has to share!
Happy New Year!
