Surf's Up on The Paper Trail

Welcome to this month's version of the Paper Trail blog hop! This month we are kickin' back and celebrating with the Surf's Up paper collection. If you have arrived here from Tracey's blog, then you are on the right trail. Of course, being a circular hop, you can start and stop anywhere you see fit!

I have chosen to keep my selection short and sweet this month and concentrate on the fact that while the Surf's Up title might conjure up images of sand and beaches, this paper collection has choices that can be as versatile as ever! Let's take a look at my card project.

This card is as simple as can be and yet with just a bit of texture and bling, it will be a welcome sight in someone's mailbox. Once covered, the white card base provides the narrow border on the card and the first layer features a showcase of texture on Lagoon cardstock. This cardstock layer was run thru my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder whose pattern mimics the swirls of the patterned paper on the card.

That patterned paper sports a variety of blues and greens and I chose the deep Ponderosa Pine to mat my patterned paper rectangle along with both the stamped focal point and the banner-shaped sentiment. Look how rich it looks against the Lagoon background! The Lagoon color is seen again in all of the stamping-both the dragonfly and the sentiment.

Once the stamping was complete, the pieces were sponged with Lagoon ink. It is just amazing to me to see what a bit of sponging can do to a completed piece!

There you have it! A card completed in the blink of an eye and papers that provide just enough interest to make a balanced project. A smidgen of Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel dresses up the dragonfly just perfectly. Enjoy!

Now hop on over to Karen's blog to see what she has to offer!
